More and more people are becoming aware of the importance of being healthy and this is one of the main reasons why the popularity of diet soda has reached record high levels in the last few years. However, many of these diet sodas contain aspartame, a popular sweetener, which can actually do more harm than good. For instance, it has been associated with seizures and many other health problems.
A scientific study revealed a few weeks ago which included more than 60,000 women, has confirmed that women who consume at least two diet beverages per day increase the chances of developing cardiovascular disease and ultimately the risk of premature death.
30 more chances of experiencing heart issues…
This huge scientific study was conducted by the scientists from the University of Iowa and they have concluded that women who drink at least 2 such drinks per day have 30% more chances of developing a stroke or heart attack and 50% more chances to die from similar disease compared to women who drink such drinks from time to time or never drink such drinks.
There is no doubt that this was probably the largest scientific study related to this subject. According to Dr. Ankur Vyas, which was the leader of this study, the final results are confirming the results of few other studies including the ones that have confirmed that connection between the metabolic syndrome and drinking diet beverages.
