Dunkin’ Donuts’ Got Nothin’ On These!
This morning I really could have used one these taste bud tantalizing donuts with my coffee! I guess it the Monday blues or something; everything seemed to go wrong from the very start of the day, and by noon I already wished I hadn’t gotten out of bed at all. So, one of these definitely would have made a big difference! I guess that’s why I decided I’m making a big batch of them tonight, to freeze plenty for similar occasions!
In my opinion, this copycat recipe is as close to “the real thing” as possible. Actually, I might even say these are better than the Dunkin’ Donuts counterparts. When you sink your teeth into one of these and get a taste of that amazing, creamy, vanilla filling – there’s just no going back.
If you’re trying to watch your figure, this recipe is not for you! Unless you’ve decided on a cheat day, haha! I do not want to think about calories when I’m eating these, but if one of these means I need an extra hour at the gym, it’s a price I am more than willing to pay!
The fun part is, if you’re not a fan of vanilla you can still use this recipe and make your own favorite filling for these donuts.
My husband doesn’t like vanilla at all (I still can’t understand why) so I always make half a batch with the vanilla filling, and for the other one I make a lemon custard filling. I gotta tell ya, it’s just as amazing. So feel free to stuff these with anything your heart desires – and don’t forget to tell us in the comments below how they turned out!
1/8 cup warm water (105 to 115 degrees F)
1 package regular or quick-acting yeast
