If There’s Just One Breakfast That Is Decidedly Southern, Look No Further Than A Plate Of Traditional Buttermilk Biscuits With Sausage Gravy.
Eating biscuits & gravy always makes me wish I was wearing a cowboy hat at the moment I’m eating it, with the faint sound of horses tied up just outside the cafe that we’ve stopped off at to get our morning feed. Piping hot black coffee accompanies this biscuit, and, if we’re lucky, so does a chicken fried steak and a pair of over medium eggs. It makes me feel proud to have been raised in the western part of the United States.

Making biscuits & gravy usually involves the weekend, because let’s be honest, who whips these up on a weekday when people have places to be? So when I’m making these, it makes me feel like time moves a little slower on this day since I don’t have to be at work or get the kids ready for school, and that breakfast is about to be served.
