Genius Japanese Trick for Wrapping Presents

Wrapping presents becomes a tedious and time consuming chore during the holiday season. I know I am a terrible gift wrapper and dread it every year. If you’re like me and you hate wrapping presents, then you’ll love this amazingly simple Japanese method of wrapping gifts!

YouTuber BeatTheBush shows us this speed-wrapping technique that gives you a clean, beautiful wrapping job for every gift on your list.

Before you get started on this high-speed wrapping technique, you’ll want to make sure that the piece of wrapping paper you have is large enough to fully wrap around the entire width of the gift in question. It should be long enough to cover the long sides of the gift and tall enough to span the height of the shorter sides of the gift.

Once you’ve cut just the right size wrapping paper, you can get to work!

How to Speed Wrap a Gift

Step 1

Put your gift right in the middle of the wrapping paper square and roll it. It should now be adjacent to one corner of the wrapping paper.

Step 2

Pull up the edge nearest your gift onto the present itself. This will create an edge in the wrapping paper below, which you’ll want to get a hold of. Try pinching between your thumb and index finger for the best grip!

Step 3

Start to pull up the edge along the short side of the present. Use your index finger to push the paper in, creating a fold. Wrap this fold all the way up, as far as it’ll go, and tape it in place.

Step 4

Repeat Steps 2 and 3 with the next corner you’ve created. Tape your second edge into place.

Step 5

For the final side, pull the paper out so you can straighten the edges, then use both your index fingers to pull it up onto the gift. Tape into place to complete your wrapping!
