Hawaiian Pizza Grilled Cheese

Hawaiian pizza is so fun. Who wouldn’t love pizza with melty cheese, savory ham, and sweet pineapple as toppings? It’s sweet, it’s filling, and it gives you the feeling of being on a beach in the tropics. If you can’t have Hawaiian pizza, though, you can at least have the next best thing, which is this Hawaiian pizza grilled cheese sandwich.

This Hawaiian pizza grilled cheese sandwich brings together two classic comfort foods – Hawaiian pizza and grilled cheese, obviously. So, instead of putting ham, cheese and pineapple on a pizza crust, you place them on buttered bread instead and grill it until the cheese is all gooey and melty. Just as Hawaiian pizza is fun to eat, so is this grilled cheese sandwich. This fantastic recipe is from Serene of House of Yumm.

Ingredients:

2 slices of bread
3 slices of pineapple, fresh or canned
shredded Monterey Jack cheese
butter
oregano and parsley

Instructions:

1- Butter one side of each slice of bread and sprinkle with parsley and oregano to taste
2- On non buttered side of bread place the shredded cheese, pineapple, and top with the other slice of bread, buttered side facing up.
3- Cook sandwich on stove top on a griddle or frying pan. Once bread is toasted on one side flip the sandwich to toast the other side. Cook on a low heat to allow the cheese to melt while the bread is toasting.
