This Cake Is the Perfect Centerpiece to Any July 4 Gathering

If you’re planning on hosting a Fourth of July party, there are lots of ways to make it special and make it an event your guests will still be talking about come fall. Lots of people rely on the tried-and-true summertime cookout foods like hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad and coleslaw, but they might not think a lot about dessert. This year, we wanted something extra special that would make Independence Day a true celebration, which is why we’re so excited to make this homemade firecracker cake.

It uses a vanilla Bundt cake that’s sweet, moist and loaded with flavor, and that’s topped with a white glaze followed by red and blue frosting. How clever is that? This cake is guaranteed to put your guests in a celebratory mood. Plus, it takes just a couple of hours to make and keeps up to three days in an airtight container, so you can make it in advance and save time on July 4. It’s also incredibly light and fluffy, but not so delicate that it will fall apart, making it ideal for outdoor gatherings and for kids, who may need something that can withstand their activity!
