1 ½ cups oatmeal
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup butter (not too soft)
1/8 tsp salt
1 tsp soda
1 tsp vanilla
1 ½ cups flour
Mix all ingredients together until they form a crumble. Press half into an 8 x 8 pyrex dish.
1 pound dates
1 cup water (or substitute ½ cup orange and ½ cup water)
¼ cup brown sugar (optional)
Cook over medium-low until mixture is soft.
Spread over bottom half of crumble. Top with remaining mixture.
Cook at 350 degrees for 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
Can use lemon pie filling instead of dates.
